I researched the Leaping Bunny Program created by Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics in. This organization was founded in 1937. This logo also means the product is an internationally based company. Products with these labels are claiming that the products or their ingredients were not tested on animals in any point of the creation process. One aspect that consumers are not generally aware of is there is no government regulations clearly defining the rules of “cruelty free” products and requirements. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration have not commented on animal testing issues yet and neither have the Consumer Product Safety Commission. A common loophole in the labeling of this is if the supplier tests the products and ingredients on animals the manufacturer does not have to admit to already knowing and are able to stamp a cruelty free sticker on their products because they personally did not test on animals. A no animal testing logo does not als mean the product is vegan unless it has a V in it. In this ad the V is designed to be the rabbits ears so this product is cruelty free and also vegan ingredients. The Leaping Bunny Program has very strict guidelines and does not accept any product that is made up or any one or more ingredients in a product that was in production with a non-human test subject. Other animals that are strictly named but not only limited to are fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and also non human mammals.
